We Built What We Couldn't Find
Dark Blueprint's founders come from construction, not software. They spent years around the trades and running their own work before building any of this, so the product is shaped by direct experience of how construction projects actually operate.
By the time they were running their own work, they'd seen every version of the same problem: too much time lost to paperwork, missed change orders that should have been money in the bank, estimates built from memory and gut feel, and crews managed by text message. They weren't bad at running their business — the tools they had were just holding them back.
So they looked at the software everyone was recommending. Some platforms were priced for Fortune 500 companies and felt like it — complicated, bloated, and designed by people who had clearly never worn a hard hat. Others were cheap but incomplete, missing the specific workflows that trade contractors actually need. It felt like the industry had to choose between too much that they couldn't afford, and too little that didn't solve the problem.
That's when Humberto and JR decided to stop looking and start building.
